I grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs, the oldest of six kids, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in management. My wife Barbara and I have lived in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for 40 years, and have been blessed with a son, a daughter, and four grandchildren.
After selling software for 30 years, I abandoned that career to finish writing a book that I had started researching to keep my mind engaged during my time on the road. I was intrigued by a controversial and catastrophic incident from early in Winston Churchill’s first term as Britain’s prime minister. As I dug into the story from multiple angles, my diversion evolved into an obsession. The more I learned, the more it became a book I just had too write. (As you can see on this site, I did a considerable amount of other writing along the way).
That’s white-haired me on the bench in front of Chartwell, Churchill’s home in the Kent countryside, deep in conversation with the most recent descendant of Sir Winston’s marmalade cat “Jock.”
